To commemorate Jazz Appreciation Month, Snug Harbor and Universal Temple of the Arts (UTA) are excited to treat Staten Island audiences to the rhythmic and groove driven genre of Jazz Fusion - an idiom of jazz that utilizes many electric instruments. As Staten Island’s leading incubator for bold and innovative art, Snug Harbor is excited to highlight jazz artists across our campus and provide a venue for gathering and connectivity. Join us for a celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month and the historic milestone of the United States 250th Anniversary with the performances of two stylistically different groups under the umbrella of fusion: the Jazztronauts and the DLG3 trio.

The Jazztronauts are Staten Island NY’s funkiest fusion band! They are bassist Niall Sullivan, trumpeter/producer Josh (J. Glaze) Glazer, trombonist Shawn Rhoades, trumpeter Jesse Blum, saxophonist Kevin Edell, guitarist Thomas Harden Jr., and drummer Mike Kane. The band fuses their wide range of musical influences, such as The Budos Band, Lettuce, Butcher Brown, and The Meters, to create music that feels both timeless and refreshingly new! The band takes their fans on a journey during their fun, unpredictable performances full of extensive musical improvisations.

DLG3 was born over 10 years ago through their love of Jazz, Soul and R&B music. As professional musicians working throughout NYC and the world, they bring their diverse

influences together to take on a new approach to the world of jazz and improvised music. While rooted in the traditional organ trio format (Hammond organ, guitar, and drums) you can expect anything from Jimmy Smith to Stevie wonder with one thing in common, a deep groove, unbelievable chemistry and organic passion in their performances. No one performance is alike as they can interpret and reinterpret material with refreshing interaction and musical storytelling.
